Description

Folios 708-709. Letter from James Saunders, Clerk to the East Dereham Local Government District Local Board in the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, to the Local Government Board. He writes in answer to their letter of 4 December 1880 and states that the following resolution was passed at a meeting of the local board held 15 November 1880. 'That in consequence of facts stated in his report the Medical Officer be requested to draw up a scheme for the general and periodical scavenging of the town and that the same be submitted to the Board'. He informs the Board that the medical officer has presented a very complete report in respect of the privies in the district, a copy of which is to be forwarded to the Board. Another report has since been made by the medical officer and subsequently referred to a committee so that they may prepare a scheme for scavenging the town, once this is settled a copy will be sent to the Board.
