ff1-4. Presentments.
f.5. Indictment that Mathew Ellys late of Hondbrigge, Chester, yeoman, on 4 August 1540 broke into a close belonging to Thomas Ball at Hondbrigge and laid waste grass growing there valued at 50s. and also some corn. Found guilty of trespass.
f.6. Presentments.
f.7. Indictment that Hugh Hanky late of Chester, merchant, and Joan his wife on 31 October 1540 broke into the house of Ralph Thorneton, the younger, in le Forgatestrete and took 10 bushells of barley valued at 10s. belonging to the said Hugh taken there by the said Ralph in distraint. Found guilty of trespass.

Indictment that John Masty of Burton, Cheshire, gent., Ralph Par of Capenhurste, yeoman, Robert Ieynson of Podyngton Cheshire, yeoman, Hugh Smyth of the same, gent., John Caley of the same, yeoman, on 24 February 1540/1, armed with swords staves, sticks and daggers and other offensive and defensive weapons in a little boat on the R. Dee on the orders of John Masty of Padyngton esq., attacked a ship called le Margat Godeman, belonging to William Godeman, merchant and alderman of Chester, and assaulted the servants of the said William Godeman on the said ship.
f.10. Indictment that Geoffrey Masty of Podyngton, gent., Thomas Robyn of Burton, Cheshire, yeoman, John White of the same, yeoman, and Gilbert Telyon of the same, yeoman, on 4 March 1540/1 armed with swords, staves, sticks and daggers [etc.] in a little boat on the River Dee on the orders of John Masty, esq., attacked Roger Garrett who was in another little boat, and held him prisoner.
