Description (What the record is about)
-
The minute books, or 'Draft Day Books', are records of the proceedings of meetings held by the Trustees. They record the discussions and decisions of the Trustees on all aspects of their work, from orders for the payment of augmentations to the discussion of the accounts with the auditors. The minutes are very rough, sometimes illegible, and sometimes in shorthand. At each meeting the names of the Trustees present are given. When the decisions reached at the meetings were carried out they were registered according to category. It was not until 1657 that a system of numbers and letters was developed enabling them to refer from the minutes to the registered orders in the other series (COMM. Vicarage, VI, IX, X, XI, and XIIc).
