When in charge of half a section of a machine gun company, in face of very heavy fire, he brought his two guns into action against an enemy strong point. Late, he worked an enemy anti-tank gun with great effect on the enemy. His personal gallantry and devotion to duty were most marked, and he set a fine example to all ranks.;
