Title
SOUTH CADBURY CASTLE ARCHIVE
Date
1960's-1990's
Description

The South Cadbury Castle archive comprises three separate files which together encompass all aspects of the project. The three files are as follows:

* (1) The 'main' archive: an inventory of material culture, excavation and post-excavation items.

* (2) The 'floppy' archive: an index of the data held on the floppy disks used in the project.

* (3) The 'image' archive: a list of the film negatives, slides and prints that record the project.

The introductory comments to each of these different archives contain more detailed information about the structure and contents of each inventory as appropriate.

A printed record of this document, and the above three archives, is stored in the 'main' archive as entry number 278. A computer record of these three archives is held on Cadbury disks 88 (first copy) and 89 (backup copy) in the 'floppy' archive. Each of these disks contains two directories/folders labelled cad-doc and cad-rtf. In each case, the former directory stores the three archives as 'Microsoft Word 6' files, and in the latter directory as 'Rich Text Format' files.

The illustration archive, of which there is no computer record, is restricted to a paper copy enclosed in the general archive folder. A second paper copy of the illustration archive is catalogued and stored in the 'main' archive as entry 211.
