Historical note. Under the Act of Parliament, 3 Geo.III c.24 (1762), people voting for the election of Knights of the shire by right of an annuity of 40s. or more, had to register the grant upon oath with the clerk of the peace. A memorial of the grant had to be entered in a register with the same clerk.
