In 1913 Ferranti Limited set up the Ferranti Electric Company of Canada Limited to manufacture Power Transformers and associated electrical equipment. The company opened its first factory site in 1916. In 1954 Ferranti Ltd purchased the Packard Electric Co Limited which was also based in Canada. The company, which was founded by the same family that founded the famous Packard Car Company, like Ferranti Electric manufactured Power Transformers and associated electrical equipment. In 1958 Ferranti Ltd merged the two companies to form Ferranti-Packard Limited (Canada). Ferranti-Packard was sold in 1979 to Northern Engineering Industries Limited
