The majority of documents in this collection were rescued - some in bad condition - from the ruins of Westmill village museum and taken thence for safe custody to Stevenage Museum. Those few documents which apparently did not share this fate and which form the later accessions (numbered 1258 and 1288) are identified as such in this inventory by the accession number being placed after the description of the document
