20 horse power double-acting crank engine, with 23¾ inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion.Reverse general view and plan of the engine and boiler; press copy sketch plan and sections of framing and cistern, and plan and side view of crank, cross-section of engine house; connecting rod and crank - reverse drawings; letter from Thomas Dudgeon dated 13 Jul. 1798, with coloured plan and elevation of the engine house and boiler; letter from Thomas Dudgeon dated Newcastle, 29 Jul. 1798, with drawing of crank arrangement. All the drawings bear letter codes.

For Joshua Walker of Clifton, Yorkshire, Joseph Walker of Eastwood, Yorkshire, Thomas Walker of The Holms, Yorkshire, ironmasters, Richard Fishwick of Low Elswick White Lead Works, Archer Ward of the White Lead Works near Derby, Thomas Maltby, Red Bull Wharf, London. Rolling mill engine, white lead manufactory, Low Elswick, Northumberland. This was the second engine bought by Walkers Fishwick & Co., the first being a sun & planet engine in 1795 [see Portfolio 5/119].
