Laboratory notebook, 4½" x 7", with black cover, labelled "Air rare gases: spectroscopic notes by Sir James Dewar. Includes some notes in other hands, pp.1-30, remainder of book in Dewar's hand and numbered from 1. Notes on rare gases; gases from Curie radium 1903 (Dewar p.1 et seq.); gases expelled from Na 1913 (pp.71-2); electrodeless water discharge tube: attempt to prepare same without small residue of permanent gas on condensing the water vapour by liquid air, (pp.73-8). Stuck inside back cover: note on experiments with electric are under pressure. 15 Oct. 1890.
