Personal letters to John Blagden
Includes letters from brother Charles in America during War of Independence: on point of embarking from Gravesend, 12 Dec. 1775; prior to sailing from Cork, 17 Feb. 1776, while on Frigate Emerald, 3 Sept. and 28 Oct. 1777, and in New York, 14 Sept. 1778. These letters contain only odd references to events in the War and chiefly relate to personal matters or complaints about absence of pay.
Includes letters from cousin, Mary Smart, chiefly on family and money matters, 1779-80
