Until recently Stanley House formed part of The Old Apiary, but acquired its own name when it was sold off by the owners of the latter property. Joseph Diamond, the vendor in this document, had acquired this property with Deans Place in 1783, but in 1807 sold Deans Place to Thomas Henry Harben (Alfriston Tenement Analysis, P52/22, P52/46).
