Title
F. Chambre to Hill
Date
Petton, 1st November, 1725
Description

He has acquainted Mr. Griffith with the contents of Hill's last note, and he has given Chambre directions for drawing up the settlement. Griffith would like to be paid the £1,500 by having some mortgage of that value assigned to him. If not, he would have Hill keep the money in London on the same profitable footing as he would lay out so much of his own, only desiring Hill's note or such securities as Hill takes for it.

Hill has often spoken of a basin for holding water in his lower court at Hawkestone. If he approves Chambre will set the 4 labourers and a eam about - it may as well be done now as in the summer, and the business of planting trees is over, except for planting which they are now engaged upon. Mr. Maurice Lloyd, an apothecary in Salop has a son standing candidate for a Fellowship in St. John's, for which he asks Hill's interest. He says his won, Moses Lloyd is well known to Mr. Rowland Hill now of the college, and if Chambre remembers right, is in the same chambers with him. Mr. Lloyd the father is of good esteem and reputation here "and especially among your friends which chiefly induces me to trouble you thereupon and for which freedom I beg pardon."

As soon as receives Mr. Sherrard's and Mr. Davies's mortgages with Hill's assignments and declaration he will give Hill credit for the value to set against Hill's debt on his pieces and Chambre's account.

Directed for the Hon. Mr. Hill.
