This small collection of papers includes two main parts. Some few prints of famous engineers and scientists (PRD 1) and more importantly, a collection of architectural material (PRD 2-7) detailing the construction of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers' first purpose built headquarters at Storey's Gate (now 1 Birdcage Walk).
This material includes the work of Basil Slade, the first IMechE architect. Slade also modelled 3 Birdcage Walk, part of the same property, and originally the headquarters of HM Office of Works.
