[1:23:54] Discusses Andy Boy, Hociel Thomas, Sippie Wallace, George W. Thomas. [1:26:30] Experiences travelling around the United States playing piano. [1:28:35] Biographical details about Pine Top Smith. [1:30:20] Cartwright’s claim to being the ‘first coloured man’ to broadcast on Houston radio station KXYZ in 1928. [1:31:38] Discusses Hattie Sims, alleged originator of the song ‘Hattie Green’.[1:33:13] 29. Interview with Sidney J. O’Bryant, 3 August 1961:
O’Bryant gives a brief account of his life and background (born Louisiana, 1910). How he learnt piano in Lafayette and went to New Orleans. [1:35:18] Meeting Earl Hines in Galveston, Texas. Encounters with ‘Lazy Daddy’, Andy Boy, and other musicians. [1:37:00] Discusses jobs he has held and army service. [1:38:24] Experience of playing in groups with saxophonists.
