The Model Dairy, Longsmith Street, Gloucester

This collection contains documents relating to milk delivery, accounts, licences required, welfare services, the National Dairymen's Association and the maintenance of Mr Williams' van. The majority of the documents range from 1955 to 1960, with some regulations from 1946 and newspaper articles from 1995 and 1996 relevant to Mr Williams' milk round.

Records donated by Mr N Williams

Mr Norman Williams was the dairyman for the Model Dairy from 1955 to 1960. He bought milk from Gloucester Dairy Supply Limited, otherwise known as Gloucester Dairy Association Limited (see D4453 box 7 bundle 1 for Memorandum of Association in 1887 and other papers).

Mr Williams delivered milk within Gloucester City, including deliveries for Gloucester County Council welfare services (see D8612/4). The bulk of his milk went to RAF Quedgeley canteens on 6 sites. He delivered to the RAF site from June 1955 to May 1958 when he terminated the contract (see D8612/1/1). Mr Williams later collected newspaper articles from The Citizen about the closure of RAF Quedgeley in March 1996 (see D8612/7/1).
