Description

Collection of loose prints, each mounted on card with handwritten captions. Prints 1–21 can be attributed to Felice Beato and consist of architectural and topographical views of Lucknow, Delhi and Agra, the majority of which relate to sites connected with the Uprising of 1857–58. Prints 22–31 are topographical views by Samuel Bourne, mostly depicting mountain scenery in northern India. Prints 32–47 are miscellaneous portraits and views by various photographers.

1937: Presented by Duncan H. Montgomerie on 26 October 1937. The collection formerly belonged to his father A. W. J. Montgomerie of the 20th Hussars.
