Administrative / biographical background

Whilst studying at the Architectural Association, EWL became interested in theatre/cinema design and in 1928 won the RIBA Alfred Bossom Medal and a travelling scholarship to the USA where he worked for some time in the office of Howard C Crane. After returning to England he was chosen to design the New Victoria Cinema, London (1930) which is now a listed building.
