Walker Collection: Indian snapshots.
Date
1930s
Description

Collection of loose prints, the majority uncaptioned but some with titles written on the reverse. The collection consists of amateur snapshots, and while not of outstanding quality contains some interesting illustrations of family and social life (tea parties, riding on elephants, etc). The material does however contain some rare views of live tigers and leopards, taken at night and presumably with a camera equipped with a remote control (prints 10-13, 16; also duplicates at 297-308). George Eric Denham Walker (b. 1921) served in the Indian Police (Assam) from 1934-47. Process = Gelatine silver prints. Photographers = George Eric Denham Walker,;.
