Includes Guard-room in Chelmsford closed following complaint by householder (Q/SBb 422/10); Visitors' report on County Goal recommends provision of stoves in working rooms of Gaol since fireplaces smoke excessively, necessitating windows to be left open, causing illness throughout Gaol (Q/SBb 422/11); letters and circulars from Secretary of State informing Lord Braybrooke that French prisoners on parole were using parole certificates with particulars chemically erased in order to pass through various towns undetected after they had inserted suitable particulars, letter ordening all passes to be cancelled (Q/SBb 422/21-23)
