Description

Item 920 BOL/1/7 [below] is addressed, apparently, by a son of Nicholas Bold of Marsh Hall and brother of Arthur Bold, (d. 1745), merchant, of Liverpool, to Jonas Bold, merchant, of Liverpool, or to one of his brothers. This genealogical note gives an outline history of the Bold family of Marsh Hall, Farnworth, a younger branch of the Bolds of Bold. According to this account, the Bolds fled from Marsh Hall at the time of the siege of Lathom House, but Nicholas Bold returned on the accession of King William. His grandson, Jonas Bold, was Mayor of Liverpool in 1802 and died in 1822, aged 77 years. Lieutenant Edward Bold, R.N., was the son of Jonas Bold.
