Description

Upon reading the petition of William Dix, merchant, for a lease of ground, near his cheese warehouse, called Wilcox Point on part of which to build a warehouse, an order was made for viewing and reporting.

Upon reading a report by the Mayor, Alderman Nichols and Treasurer Ollerhead on the petition of James Comberbach, gent., for a renewal of a lease of two small messuages in Fleshmongers Lane, he was granted a lease for three lives and twenty-one years at the reserved rent of £2. 2s. to build and keep in repair a good substantial new house.

Upon reading the petition of John Goostrey, tenant to the Corporation for the coffee house in the Exchange, desiring to become tenant for the Assembly room there with all other rooms and privileges (as were lately held by Mr. Robert Barnston, he was granted the same for one year from 25th March next at £35 rent and to have the use of a vault (ZA/B/4/209) to be thrown open to the vault under the coffee house.

Alderman Richardson desired a lease of the old quay near Parkgate, in ruinous condition, to repair it for shipping coals and to use the stones there to rebuild it and to erect warehouses on either side and make a harbour. It was ordered that he be granted the same paying every 29th September £1. 1s., without prejudice to the Corporation's right to the ancient Port Duty, Anchorage or other duty. (ZA/B/4/209v)

Upon the petition of Richard Richardson, Alderman, desiring a lease of a piece of land between the General Workhouse and Wilcox Point to make a dock for unleading coals or other goods provided the Corporation lay and maintain a cart road for drawing the coals thence to the City, an order was made for a committee to view and report.
