37 horse power crank engine, with 32½ inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion, [cast iron beam, cast iron connecting rod]. Engine formerly belonged to James Watt Jr., French Walls."Sketch" section of engine platforms etc., plan of engine, plan of tunnel (4 drawings on 1 sheet); sketch plan and elevation of steam pipes; small sketch plan of steam pipes and notes on boiler; small sketch plan of top of boiler and stop pipe. Only the first sheet of drawings bears a letter code.
Also air pump bucket and rod - reverse drawing dated 6 Nov. 1848; section and plan of cylinder top dated 1 Oct. 1860.Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 929. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 108.
For Samuel Badger. Flour mill, Friday Bridge, Birmingham. This engine, a "shortened" version of a 40 horse engine, was originally made for James Watt Jr. for the French Walls Iron Works circa May to July 1829.
