Administrative / biographical background

Goldsmiths For Palestine (G4P) is a student led grassroots organisation that campaigns at Goldsmiths University and in the wider community for Palestinian liberation. It was formed in response to the start of Israel?s genocidal onslaught of Palestinians in Gaza after October 7th 2023, with the intention of highlighting the financial and ethical complicity of our own university, and to apply pressure on the management team to call out the murder and oppression of Palestinians and divest from companies that fund it. It has played a major and leading role in the student movement, particularly by staging three separate occupations of different buildings on campus; the Professor Stuart Hall building (the first long-term student occupation in solidarity with Palestine after October 7th), Goldsmiths Library and Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art. These actions have extracted a series of commitments from management, which are published on the Goldsmiths website, have raised awareness of the Palestinian cause and have shone a spotlight on the complicity of art institutions in Britain. The creation of an archive documenting the campaign to date, it is hoped, it will be a useful tool for further political action on campus, in the pursuit of justice and liberation for Palestine and all others living in oppression.
