Two 60 horse power side lever boat engines for land, with 42 inch cylinders, 4 foot strokes.Direct copy plan and cross-section of the engine house, May 1833; plan of the engine house and part of the mill, transverse section of the engine house and longitudinal section of the mill, section of the engine house showing fly wheel and arch etc. (with note by William Bennett), plan of the engine house and engines - coloured drawings by Wren & Bennett.
Partially coloured plan and elevation of the boiler house, boiler and steam pipes (copied from a drawing by Wren & Bennett?); reverse longitudinal section and plan of the engine house, transverse section of the engine and boiler houses (partially coloured), plan of the tunnel and covering stones; governor gearing - coloured reverse drawing; section of fly wheel shaft (sent by Wren & Bennett); press copy sketches of governor wheels and stop pipes; sheet of pencil sketches and notes on the cylinder etc. The boiler house and reverse drawings bear letter codes.
Also the following items re the second engine: sketch plan of the engine house showing second tunnel and stones etc. (by William Bennett?); section of the engine platform - coloured drawing by Wren & Bennett; reverse elevation and plan of the engine, plan of the tunnel; screw stop pipe - reverse drawing.Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 876. For George Cheetham & Sons. Cotton mill, Stalybridge, Cheshire. The firm had previously purchased two 20 horse boat engines, engine QH in 1827 [see Portfolio 5/1058] and engine OR in 1833 [see Portfolio 5/1047].
