Description (What the record is about)
-
These deeds represent one transaction in the history of the Carters Corner estate, which had been assembled by several members of the Barton family between 1610 and 1671 (for details see SNQ 12 172-174, quoting from a lost Luxford account book). The documents listed as AMS6339/4-7 are all pieces of paper which have been cut down, perhaps to form the lining of a box which formerly contained the deeds. For a map of the estate in 1671 by Edmund Clifton, see AMS740
