Subjects include a visit to her aunt Charlotte Buller at Downes (item 1); service conducted by Rev Charles Spurgeon, attended by 11,000 people, including a sermon on I Kings xviii (very detailed description: item 2); horse-chestnut trees and opinions of 3rd Countess and 5th Earl of Portsmouth on rate-aided schools (item 3)

Item 2 was found among letters mostly dating from 1846, but appears from the style of handwriting to be of a later date.
