In recording this discussion, the Gloster pilots' remarks are quoted in full and our answers to each appear immediately beneath. It should be recorded that S/Ldr Waterton stressed the fact that the contents of his appreciation were not necessarily a criticism, although that word does appear in certain sections of the report. he also stated that whilst he has concluded by saying that the Sapphire is not considered fit for service use, the same would also apply to the Avon RA.2
