L P Jarman was an experienced motor historian, Secretary of the Bullnose Morris Club and contributed to various motoring magazines, including Motoring, Motor Sport, Old Motor and the Horseless Carriage Club Gazette. He was an electrical engineer living at 27 Oakfield Road, Rugby, Warwickshire. In collaboration with Robin Barraclough, Lytton Jarman wrote two books, titled 'The Bullnose Morris' and 'The Bullnose and Flatnose Morris'. Explaining their interest in Morris cars, the book states that they started out with the fatal combination of an urgent desire to go motoring with lack of funds and sheer ignorance. Lytton was taken to his christening at the age of seven weeks in the family 1929 Morris Oxford. He was given a 1935 Wolseley saloon for his twenty-first birthday. He wanted to practice maintenance on an old chassis before working on the Wolseley and purchased a 1925 Oxford chassis for £15 plus a car body from a scrapyard. The completed car attended many Club rallies. He liked the Bullnose Morris because it provided reasonable performance and economy and it was cheap; he could not afford a sports car.
