Letter of John Cartman, Secretary, Royal Oak Lodge, Ripon, meeting at the Kings Head Tavern, 40 Newgate Street, to William Henry White, enclosing a list of members initiated in or joining the Lodge. Informs the Grand Secretary that only three or four original Lodge members remain but others seek to join as initiates. Intended to send the list but delays caused by business and a severe cold. Will call when in London and apologises for non-payment of fees to the Benevolence or Charity Fund due to ignorance of the new Book of Constitutions stipulations. Seeks advice on back payment of fees in order to re-establish the Lodge, which has not met for three to four years.

Royal Oak Lodge was granted a warrant to meet at the Royal Oak inn, Kirkgate, Ripon, Yorkshire as No. 495 by the Moderns' Grand Lodge on 22 June 1776. The Lodge was renumbered as No. 400 in 1780, as No. 401 in 1781 and No. 324 in 1792. From 1809 the Lodge met at the Minster Inn, Cathedral Yard, Ripon. After the union between the Moderns' and Antients' Grand Lodges to form the United Grand Lodge of England, the Lodge was renumbered as No. 412. The Lodge was erased on 5 March 1828.
