Ms. journal (136pp) being a mixture of diary and memoir describing his experiences as a prisoner of war of the Germans in German East Africa in the following places: Masasi, Lindi, Moragoro, Tabora and Kilimatinde, August 1914 to April 1916; ms. notebook (34pp) listing Johnson's movements at this time, noting his enlistment and subsequent commission in the Carrier Corps, East Africa, and his appointments as Political Officer/district administrater in East Africa after the First World War.
