Originally a mission church in the parish of St.Barnabas until St.Barnabas opened in 1843, the church of St.Agnes was consecrated 2 March 1886 after a district had been created for it from St.Barnabas by Order of Council 23 August 1883. The parish was united with St.Simon by Order of Council 22 March 1956 and St.Agnes became the parish church
