The Overseas Students Commendation Centre was established at 157 Waterloo Road in 1964 in association with the Church Missionary Society. The centre would Commend students to organisations offering boarding facilities for visitors. The Commendation Centre closed mid-1972 following the passing of a Resolution at Synod in the February of that year, which would see the Church participating in an ecumenical Unit for Overseas Students under the British Council of Churches.
