Description

Will of William Higford of Dixton, co. Glos., esq.

Sums due to his children, Anne, Elinor, Mary and William, from various legacies etc., to be discharged as follows :

Abbingdons Leasows, messuage called Coles and lands in Prescott, co. Glos., manor of Alvington's Court, woods called Rodmores Grove and Bornage in parishes of Alvington, Ayleberton [Aylburton] and St. Briavells [St. Briavels], co. Glos., to Thomas Charles, Viscount Tracy, and John Bridge of the Mythe, co. Glos., esq., to be sold or mortgaged to raise money to pay £1100 to dau., Anne, wife of Richard Richardson of Worcester, goldsmith,

£1500 each to Elinor Higford and Mary Higford,

£500 each to sons, William Higford and Charles Higford,

£100 to son, Henry Higford,

£50 to granddaughter, Mary Parsons, etc.,

Then to use of William Higford and heirs male, or in default to Charles, Henry and James Higford, his sons and heirs male.

Gretton farm in Gretton in parish of Winchcombe , co.Glos., to Visc. Tracy and John Bridges, to use of Henry Higford for life, then to Wm. Higford and James Higford, and heirs male of all his sons.

Lands in Ashton Under Hill, co. Glos., to Visc.Tracy and John Bridges to raise £400 owed to testator's son in law, Henry Wakeman, and £400 to children of William Sambache, dec'd. ; then to use of Henry Higford for life, and heirs male, or in default to Charles H.and heirs male, Wm. Higford and heirs male, James Higford and heirs male.

Lands at Eldersfield als. Elsfield co. Worcs. and at Lincoln's Green in Tewkesbury, co. Glos., to Visc. Tracy and John Bridges, rents to Charles Higford for life, then to his children, William Higford and children, James Higford and children, and then equally betw. his daughters.

To daughter, Frances Wakeman, wife of Henry Wakeman of Ashton Underhill £500 and nearly £200 due on mortgages to Edward Somersett, esq., dec'd. of tithes of Pauntley, co. Glos. and estate called Linton, in parish of Red Marley, co.Worcs., and title to mortgaged estates, provided she pay his granddaughter, Mary Parsons, £350 on reaching 21 or marriage, and £15 p.a. towards her education until this time.

£600 owing to John Holbrooke to be paid.

Household goods to Henry Higford, except for certain specific bequests.
