Folios 127-136. Annual report of the Medical Officer of Health for East Dereham Urban Sanitary District for the year 1884, from Henry Bird Vincent, Medical Officer of Health; includes details of birth and death rate, causes of death, infant mortality, Zymotic Disease, Pauper sickness, water supply, sewage and table of deaths. The report notes that on the whole the town may be congratulated upon being in a very healthy condition. However there is a great want in the town of public urinals. As regards to water supply it is stated that, in the neighbourhood the springs have been very low, some of the houses near Scarning Fen have been hard put to obtain, good water as the dipping well on the fen has been very low and very contaminated. The sewerage farm is in a very efficient state.
