Administrative / biographical background

Information from Mr MacLaren: "I am from a political family; my father was an active member of the then Transport & General Workers Union and active in the Labour Party. Having been brought up in north Wales, I lived and worked in London between 1965-75 and completed my professional social work training at what was then the Polytechnic of North London in Highbury. I would describe myself as a democratic socialist and had a keen interest in the political positions of the various left groupings/parties. The pamphlets were bought at various gatherings and bookshops and in particular, the old Collets bookshop in Charing Cross Road."
