Sybil was the daughter of Charles Herbert Arthur and Louisa Anne Day and was born in Southampton in January 1907. Her parents were solid, middle class citizens of Southampton with a background of manufacturing associated with ship building. The family home was Lyndale, 34 Winn Road, Southampton (next door to the home of Captain Smith of RMS Titanic). In 1938 she married Richard Pershouse and moved to Watermill Farm, Middleton, Saxmundham, Suffolk. She died in Suffolk in 1980.
