April 18th Appointed Zoological Advisor to Belle Vue at one hundred guineas a year. I/understand W.B. Iles is their animal man, asked about animals to which he replied he had been obliged to fit animals to cages. What they wanted was a new outdoor lion house & other outdoor cages. I said lion house not required, "that in the present they lived the best in Europe" To which in reply "dont kid yourself." Later I spoke to J.H. Iles who said he would tell me personally what he wanted (remarking the time was pressing) only a fortnight to Whit Week.

Mr G. Jennison ... naturalist-in-charge of B.V. Zoological Gardens ... appointed special-adviser on animal matters recently, revised articles on animals for the new edition of Liddell and Scott's "Lexicon".

Each Singer to be regular member of Choir with which they compete .... cannot compete more than once in each class. No. of contestants limited. Entry order considered in selection, solo competitors can bring own accompanist ... services of skilled accompanist free of charge can be provided.

Mr. Jennison's decision ... final in ... dispute ....

Judges can stop quartettes or solo competitors as soon as satisfied to merits.
