Administrative / biographical background

Mr. Richardson was born on October 28 1901, and brought up in Heyhead, Northen Etchells, and still lives in the area. His mother was Theodosia Hough, and his father Mark Richardson. He has a brother William and a sister Ethel, now deceased. He was born in the cottage next door to Pump House Cottage on Woodhouse Lane, Heyhead (still standing). He worked as a gardener though his father had a market garden. When he was younger he helped out on other local market gardens, but when he was 21 he got a job at a private house. He met his wife while he was working there as she was in service in one of the neighbouring houses. She is no longer living. They had two daughters, Sheila and Winifred, (now Jones, see deposit no. 1625).
