- Will of John Atkinson made 16 July 1868 and proved (P.P.R.) 16 March 1870 appointing said James Robinson and Edmund F Fearenside executors

- Death of John Atkinson, 6 February 1870, leaving personal estate insufficient to pay debts

- Chancery Decree, 26 March 1870, in cause of "Atkinson v. Robinson

- Chancery order, 5 July 1871, that sufficient of testators' real estate be sold to make good the deficiency

- Sale, 14 September 1871, by public auction at Cross Keys Hotel, Milnthorpe, of premises in 9 lots leaving those hereunder described to John Fearenside and James Robinson

- Principal sum of £800 plus interest still due to John Fearenside and James Robinson; etc

Premises: close of last in Farleton called Canal Parrock containing 2 roods 22 perches now in occupation of William Middleborough; also three closes on north and south sides of road from Farleton to Aikbank called Fell Close, Middleton Close and Ashcroft, containing together 10 acres 25 perches now in occupation of James Smyth - (1) to (2) in trust and discharged from mortgage
