Further information: This was a late claim for disablement benefit - the accident happened on 27 February 1952 when Bradley injured his knee, and the claim was made in July of the following year, outside of the month limit. His reason provided for the late claim is that he thought he would be able to go on with his work. At the end of the injury benefit period, his wife went away after a nervous breakdown, to stay at his sister's in Leeds, after their child had died by drowning. This 'affected his mind' and his 'Wife had to go away. Had a nervous breakdown [...] I had to keep a constant watch on my wife [...] at nights when she wandered out of the house' The Tribunal findings state that 'There are severe domestic grounds revealed which Tribunal think reasonable cause.'
