This parish originated from a mission church situated at Slip End in the parish of Caddington, Beds., but serving outlying areas of the parishes of Caddington, Beds., and Flamstead, Herts. The Mission church opened in about 1879, and the permanent church at Woodside, built at the expense of the Crawley family of Stockwood Park, was dedicated on 24th December 1889. The Ecclesiastical Parish of Woodside was established by an Order In Council published in the London Gazette on 23rd August 1892
