The Samaritan Lodge No. 286 was named and established in 1792 and met at the Devonshire Arms, Church Street, Keighley, Yorkshire. In 1814 the lodge left Keighley and met at the Red Lion Inn, Manchester Road, Accrington, Lancashire. In 1837 the lodge moved form Accrington to Bacup, Lancashire, meeting at the Green Man Inn, Yorkshire Street. The lodge now meets at the Masonic Hall, Holmroyd, Bacup
