Draft copy of Petition and letter of Robert Leslie, Grand Secretary to members of Prince Edwin's Lodge, No. 249, Woodbridge, explaining that the Lodge, meeting at the White Hart Inn on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month will receive a warrant formerly held by a Lodge meeting in the town or garrison at St. John's, Newfoundland, North America granted on 31 March 1788. Includes a draft letter to [Edward Hickin], Worshipful Master of Knight of Malta Lodge, No. 309 [SN 1426], meeting in the Second Regiment of Royal Lancashire Militia, explaining the necessity to send a list of Lodge members to the clerk of the peace under the Unlawful Societies Act and provides details of the costs involved in registering Lodge members at the Quarter Sessions in London and Middlesex. Leslie is sending calendars and lists of lodges for members but seeks the return of unwanted items. Endorsed by a note referring to a legal case in the court of Common Pleas, Johnson Esq vs Prescott relating to insurance policies and bills of exchange for ships, the Charlotte and Thames, from Calcutta to London.

Prince Edwin's Lodge was established in 1804 and met at the White Hart Inn, Thorofare, Woodbridge. It was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge to meet as No. 249(B) on 21 May 1804 and was known as Prince Edwin's Lodge from 1806. In 1812 the Lodge moved to the Horse and Groom, Melton Street, Melton and in 1818 the Lodge moved to the White Lion Inn, Broad Street, Eye. In 1814 after the Antients' Grand Lodge joined in a union with the Moderns' Grand Lodge to form the United Grand Lodge of England, the Lodge met as No. 315. In 1832 the Lodge was renumbered to meet as No. 222. The Lodge ceased to be viable and was erased on 5 September 1838.
