Fifty glass slides, taken by Lieut Col F M Bailey, nearly all during the Younghusband Mission to Tibet, 1903-4. The exceptions are slides of botanical subjects that derive from the expedition to Tsangpo Gorges by Frank Kingdon Ward and Lord 'Jack' Cawdor (1924-25). For prior slides in the Younghusband Mission sequence, see RSAA/SC/BAI/1.
Marked with titles (written by hand) and numbered (51-100), the slides were originally kept by F M Bailey as a group in a wooden slide storage box. Nearly all slide marked "Thos. J Wallis, 47 Lothian St., Edinburgh" (except where indicated).
Copy negative, contact sheet and low contrast 'postcard' print made (2004) for each slide.
