Mr Holt was born in Birch St, West Gorton in 1886. He went to All Saints School Gorton and on leaving he got a job at Crossleys Motors as an engineer. He has also worked on the Tramways. He joined Salford Harriers in 1909 and ran for his Regiment during the 1914-18 War. He was a two mile runner and he ran in the race in which Roger Bannister ran the four minute mile.
