An abstract of the yearely values of the glebe, tythes and of the casuall profitts communibus annis independant arising by offerings at Easter, christenings, burialls, marriages and churchings belonging to the severall parsonages and viccarages of the parish churches in London and the liberties thereof anno 1636'. For each parish the name of the incumbent is given, with the values of the tithes, casual dues and any other income. The abstract was compiled during the London tithes dipute of the 1630s, arising from a campaign by Brian Walton and other London clergy to address the problem of significant underpayment of tithes. The issue was taken up by Charles I personally. Two copies. ff. 1-15 [copy one]. In the hand of John Spencer (d. 1680), Under Library-Keeper at Sion College from 1631and Library Keeper from 1633. f. 15v is an added leaf, with a note by Robert Watts, Sion College Librarian 1799-1842, 'This document, consisting of 14 sheets of paper, each of which is marked on the back thereof with my initials, was produced by me, as Librarian of Sion College, before a Committee of the House of Lords, sitting on the London Clergy Bill on Wednesday the eleventh of July in the year 1804. Robert Watts'. ff. 16-29 [copy two]. In another contemporary hand. f. 29 is incomplete, lacking text found in copy one. f. 16 is a small leaf added by Robert Watts, Sion College Librarian 1799-1842, with a note that this manuscript is recorded at Sion College as item 4122 in Edward Bernard, 'Catalogi librorum manuscriptorum Angliae et Hiberniae' (Oxford, 1697), vol 2, p. 107, where it is said to have been 'given in to the King and Council 1636'.

Recorded by John Spencer in his catalogue of the Sion manuscripts begun in 1650, with shelfmark Y11.8 and title: 'An abstract of the tythes of London' (Sion L40.2/E92, f. 22v). Recorded by John Spencer amongst manuscripts saved from the Fire of London, with shelfmark Y11.8 and title: 'Report of the City of London to K. Charles the first about the tythes, glebe and other perquisites belonging to the severall parochiall churches in the said city' (Sion L40.2/E58/1, f. 32). Recorded with shelfmark A53 in William Reading, 'Bibliothecae cleri Londinensis in Collegio Sionensi catalogus ...' (London, 1724). Former Sion College shelfmarks A39 and 26.2 at f. 15v. Transferred from Sion College to Lambeth Palace Library, 1996.
