Description

George Marsh of Belgrave Place, Pimlico, co. Middlesex, esq., of the first part: Rev. Robert Marratt Miller of Dedham, Essex, Doctor of Divinity: Rev. Thomas Newman of Little Bromley, Essex, clerk and Alderman Manning of Dedham, esq.

To ensure principal money of £1,700.

The following lands were conveyed:- messuage with farm buildings, yard, garden and lands belonging, 1 rood 10 poles: the Croft, 1 acre 1 rood 28 poles, adjoining the above premises to the north, and abutting east on the road leading to Cawthorne: parcel of arable land called Town Ing, 2 roods 21 poles, on the north side and abutting the turnpike road from Barnsley to Huddersfield: a parcel of arable land called Wood Ing, 11 acres 1 rood butting north on the Barnsley Canal: a parcel of arable also called Wood Ing, 1 rood 17 poles, abutting south on the Barnsley to Huddersfield turnpike: a parcel of arable called High Syke, 3 roods 31 poles, butting south on the Barnsley to Huddersfield turnpike: a parcel of arable called Quarry Close, 5 acres 2 roods, butting south on the Barnsley to Huddersfield turnpike; a parcel of arable called Great Ing, 6 acres 3 roods 37 poles: a parcel of arable called Dickwood, 4 acres 2 roods 30 poles, butting north on the Barnsley Canal; a parcel of arable called Long Close, 4 acres 3 roods 21 poles, butting south on the Barnsley Canal; a parcel of arable called Middle Clay Cliffe, 2 acres 2 roods 23 poles, butting north on the Barnsley to Huddersfield turnpike; New Close, 6 acres 3 roods: Little Clay Cliff, 2 acres 1 rood 20 poles, to the north of the Barnsley to Huddersfield turnpike road: all of which are situated in Bargh, par. Darton, late in the tenure of John Race, but now in the tenure of George Hurst, under a lease of 7 May 1827: also the following; a messuage with a dwelling house, farm buildings, yard, garden, land as follows, Orchard Croft, being pasture and measuring 3 roods, and adjacent to the garden of the said messuage east: Top Croft, being pasture and measuring 1 acre 1 rood 35 poles, lying east of the above messuage: the Five Lands, being arable and measuring 7 acres 2 roods 30 poles, and butting West on the Barnsley Canal: the Upper Stone Delf, being arable and measuring 3 acres 2 roods 12 poles, butting east on the road to Cawthorne and west on the Barnsley Canal: the Wormwood Croft, being pasture and measuring 1 acre 3 roods 32 poles; the Great Nether Croft, being arable, and measuring 6 acres 3 roods 30 poles, and butting north, in part, on the turnpike road from Redbrook to Shepley Lane Head; Slade Nether Carr, being arable and measuring 7 acres 2 poles: Far Six Acre Nether Carr, being arable, and measuring 7 acres 10 poles; all being in Bargh and in the tenure of George Allen, by a lease of 7 May 1827: also the following: Long or Far Clay Cliff Close, being arable, and measuring 1 acre 17 poles and adjoining south on the turnpike road from Barnsley to Grangemoor; Far Nether Carr, being pasture and measuring 11 acres, lying south of the above close, and both in Bargh, and in the tenure of James Arthington Wilson, by a lease of 18 May 1826: Long Clay Cliff Close, being arable and measuring 3 acres 20 poles, butting south on the turnpike from Barnsley to Huddersfield: Lower Nether Carr, being arable, and measuring 4 acres 10 poles, and lying adjacent to the above land, on the south: Sunfield Bottom, being pasture and measuring 2 roods 26 poles, adjacent to the road leading from the Barnsley to Huddersfield turnpike to Cawthorne, all of which are in the tenure of Thomas Pimberton, by a lease of 7 May 1827: parcel of land, partly wrought as a quarry, measuring 1 acre, lying on the north side of the Barnsley to Huddersfield turnpike road, and being in the tenure of John Walshaw, by a lease of 7 May 1827: a messuage and garden, in Bargh, in the tenure of Joseph Bailey: a messuage and garden in Bargh, in the tenure of William Fretwell: a messuage and garden in Bargh, in the tenure of George Senior: a barn and butchers shop in Bargh, in the tenure of Joseph Bailey: a barn with appurtenances in Bargh, in the tenure of William Fretwell; a barn with appurtenances in Bargh, in the tenure of Edward Armitage, all of which contain, together, 29 poles: a croft in Bargh, 1 acre 37 poles, in the tenure of Joseph Bailey; an allotment of land in Bargh, 8 poles, in the tenure of Joseph Bailey, being part of an allotment of 1 rood 13 poles made to Thomas Walker by the Darton Enclosure Award of 19 Jun 1823: a close called Little Park, in Bargh, 32 poles, in the tenure of Edward Armitage: a close called Crow Croft in Bargh, in the tenure of Edward Armitage, 4 acres 36 poles: a messuage with outbuildings belonging, 17 poles, in tenure of Thomas Crowther: several closes in Bargh belonging to the said messuage, called Broom Croft, 1 acre 1 rood 37 poles, Well Croft, 1 rood 30 poles, Middle Croft, 2 acres 1 rood 29 poles, Pond Croft, 1 acre 1 rood 12 poles; Bargh Green allotment, 29 poles, being part of an allotment of 1 acre 1 rood 36 poles, made to Thomas Walker by the Darton Enclosure Award: a shop with stable and garden, in Bargh, 12 poles, in the tenure of Timothy Crowther: all great tithes from these lands.

For repayment of the principal within 7 years.

4 and 5 Aug 1829.

(b) Endorsement: Deed of further mortgage.

George Marsh of the first part, and Rev. Robert Marrat Miller, the Rev. Thomas Newman, and Alderman Manning of the second part.

Reciting that the principal sum is still due, though all interest due has been paid. By this deed, a further £325 is advanced, on the same security.
