Description of accident: Unloading coal onto conveyor and the knee gave way
Further information: In first Medical Board report September 1949, noted 'grossly obese' (16 stones 13lbs, with a height of 5'11") and 'increase in weight of 4 stones since 29/03/49'. In October 1949 weight was given as 18 stones. Arthritis was also noted in the injured knee joint. Final Medical Board report stated, 'The disability in this case is largely due to constitutional factors'. The appeal reduced the assessment from 13 per cent. -
