Transferred by East Yorkshire Borough of Beverley Council as part of accession 1295.

Administrative / biographical background

A joint Burial Board for the parishes of St John and St Martin was set up in 1859[?] and acquired lands for separate but adjoining burial grounds in 1860. St John's Cemetery was opened in Queensgate Road in 1861. St Martin's Cemetery was opened in 1861 and adjoined Cartwright Lane.
